ARTIST KAY JACKSON will be featuring miniatures in the weeks ahead. These original “small art” paintings, done in acrylics, are size 4 by 4 inches painted on gallery wrapped canvas. Each painting will be ready to display on a wall or a small easel. The new paintings may be viewed by clicking on “Acrylics” on her Web site. The paintings will be available for sale by contacting the artist.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, is the date of this year’s Snowbirds Arts & Craft Boutique to be held on the Emerald Coast of northwest Florida. The time is 9 a.m. until noon. The location is Maravilla Clubhouse located at 2606 Scenic Gulf Drive in Destin, Florida.

Boats, Beaches, & Summer Fun

A TOTAL of 23 works of art by Kay Jackson are now on display at We Frame It and More, 218 West Jackson in Bolivar, Missouri. The exhibit titled “Boats, Beaches, and Summer Fun” continues through the month of June. Included in the exhibit are watercolors, oil paintings, acrylics, and mixed media. All are original pieces. The artwork is on display daily except for Thursdays and Sundays. For specific hours each day, call 417-777-7888.

— PAINTINGS by artist Kay Jackson will be on display – and for sale – on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 9 am to noon in Suite 100 at the headquarters of Newman-Dailey Resort Properties, 12815 Highway 98 in Destin, Florida. The event is the 3rd annual Creative Snowbirds Arts & Crafts Sale. Jackson’s exhibit will include oil paintings and acrylics. Several other artisans will be participating, and their work will be for sale also. The public is invited. Free coffee and refreshments will be available.

— SIMON B’s RESTAURANT located at 449 South Springfield Avenue in Bolivar, Missouri is featuring the creative talents of artist Kay Jackson in a presentation entitled “Eye on Bolivar.” Six different scenes from the City are on display in the restaurant. Included are “B.F. Gordon Cabin,” “Dunnegan Gallery of Art,” “Dunnegan Park 1,” “Nature’s Surprise 1,” ” North Ward School,” and “Town Branch.” All of the framed and matted pieces of art are available for sale. Additional work by the artist is available at We Frame It located at 218 West Jackson Street in Bolivar.

Jackson Oils at Monett Gallery

— TWO OIL PAINTINGS by artist Kay Jackson will be shown at the Denali Dreams Art Gallery, 316 Broadway, in Monett, Missouri. They are, “Snowy Trail,” and “Nature’s Surprise II.” This will be the first gallery showing for both paintings. Opening night will be Friday, September 10 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The art display continues for two weeks. Also scheduled for the evening of September 10 in Monett is one of the downtown’s “Broadway Nights” with stores open late, live music, and a crafts fair.

Artist Expands Talents

— SINCE 2003 artist Kay Jackson has been producing watercolor paintings. She has studied under the guidance and mentorship of several accomplished artists, and has learned a variety of techniques relating to watercolors. Now, however, she is expanding her talents into another medium. Her first oil painting has been completed! The artist’s new work is titled “Snowy Trail.” An image of the painting is below.

Book-Signing in Bolivar

— AUTHOR Barbara Whisler and ILLUSTRATOR Kay Jackson will be signing copies of “Shag Finds a Home” at a Christmas Open House in Bolivar, Mo. The event is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Beyond Blossoms, 1320 West Broadway. Look for the author and illustrator in the children’s section of the store.

Whisler, Jackson at Literary Festival

— Barbara Whisler and Kay Jackson will participate in the Missouri Literary Festival on Friday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo. They will be located at Section G on the main concourse. Whisler is the author, and Jackson is the illustrator, of a children’s book entitled “Shag Finds a Home.” Books and notecards will be available for purchase.

Hammons Field is located at 955 East Trafficway in Springfield. It is home to the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
